Asset Allocation

You may be investing so that you have the necessary income for retirement, maybe for a child's education or even to make investment provisions for an estate plan. No matter what your reasons for investing, any well-considered investment program should take into account the program's time horizons, its specific accumulation goals and the return requirements and risk concerns of the individual for whom the program is being designed.1 Two risk management techniques that keep these considerations into account are Diversification and Asset Allocation.

Our products offer diversification through a selection of porfolios and a variety of Asset Allocation Models. Each model invests in a variety of portfolios, including stock, fixed income and cash investments with a goal of providing the highest investment returns based on your risk tolerance.

By determining your asset allocation model, you ensure that you are in the correct investments based on your time horizon and risk tolerance, eliminating market-timing decisions. Put the market to work for you.

1It is important to note that asset allocation does not assure against market risk.

Annuities are long-term, tax-deferred investments intended for retirement planning. Taxes are due upon withdrawal of earnings from the contract. Withdrawals of earnings or other taxable amounts are subject to income tax and, if made prior to age 591/2 may be subject to a 10% federal penalty. Early withdrawals have the effect of reducing the death benefit and contract value. Annuity units will fluctuate in value so that an investor may receive less than the principal amount invested at redemption. MFS Regatta®, MFS Regatta® MastersSM and Futurity annuities are combination fixed/variable annuity contracts with a market value adjustment issued by Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada (U.S.), and distributed by MFS/Sun Life Financial Distributors, Inc., both members of the Sun Life Financial group of companies.
