*The 2001 CSO Table is the most recent industry-developed mortality table. Such tables (CSO stands forCommissioner Standard Ordinary) represent the legal limit that life insurance companies may charge for the "cost of insurance" or COI rates. The 2001 CSO Table was adopted by the NAIC in December, 2002 and has been in use since then at the option of the insurance company in those states that had passed enabling legislation. The 2001 CSO Table becomes mandatory for all insurers for all policies issued as of 1/1/2009, and Sun Life will administer this per the transition rules.
